"Birth of the Jedi" is an "ORIGIN STORY", part of our "Decalog Workshops" project, about the beginnings of of what later became the "Jedi" order - which begins in our world, in 2029...Â
Premise:
The story begins in a contemporary world ruled by dictators and machines (quantum computers with artificial intelligence inside hybrid robotic-biological bodies) that are destroying the planet's ecology and humanity.
Characters:
Lucy Skywalker: The main female character, representing the feminine element ("Josei" is the feminine element in Japanese, and "Do" means "way," so "Joseido" shortened "JoDo" is "the way of the woman" or "the feminine way".
Mirro: The main male character, a director plagued by mental health problems and addictions, who seeks a path to enlightenment ("the light").
Plot:
Lucy Skywalker is a young actress and stuntwoman, she inspired by films, dreams of creating the first lightsaber and confronting the dictators and machines. He embarks on a global quest to find martial artists who practice the oldest martial arts, including:
Donga stick fighting
Kalari payett (India)
Tahtib (Egypt)
Kung fu
Japanese martial arts (Karate, Judo, Aikido, Kendo, Ninjutsu)
Krav Maga
Kali / Arnis
Tao, Zen, Yoga
During his journey, he meets Jodo. Together, they gather a group of martial artists and meditation practitioners.
This group travels in a circle around the world's most remote locations, a monastery in Nepal, the Desert in the Valley of death to the Antarctis and the Easter Island, training to develop their unique Jedi fighting style and mental techniques. They use a simple BO stick, or two halves of a stick cut in half, to train their bodies, minds, and souls, developing the powers of the "Force" that allows them to climb the highest mountains, keep their balance on a thin rope or dive into the deepest seas.
The narrative explores the duality of light and darkness. A key element is the betrayal of Lucy by Mirro, who succumbs to evil. The script also explores the idea that the early Jedi were "grey," eventually splitting into opposing factions: white Jedi versus black Jedi, later called Jedi versus Sith.
The Jedi face the dictators and machines that rule the world. A war erupts between the various dictators, with the Jedi caught in the middle, who had to circle the Earth and practise in various places of might around the world, like Stonehedge, aligning the dance of their bodies with the movements of the stars.
Seasons:
Season 1: Our world, in a very near future is ruled by dictators and machines. As a war erupts between them, the Order of the Jedi is created to save our world before it's too late. At the end of season one, the Jedi develop the first lightsaber, powered by intelligent crystals reflecting light.
Season 2 and 3: Depicts the war between the dictators and the machines itself, with the Jedi becoming the leaders of the rebellion.
Season 4: Set in a post-apocalyptic world after the machines destroy each other and the Jedi win, leaving the Jedi to rebuild a harmonious society. In this new world, the Jedi strive to balance martial arts with peace, but now fighting againt a part of their own order that turns to evil. At the end of this season, the first contact with an alien intelligence is established, leaving the possibility of a 5th season open.
